● American plane fell 15,000 feet in 3 minutes, terrible experience for passengers.
New Delhi :
In a shocking incident in New Delhi, an American Airlines flight to Florida suddenly plunged more than 15,000 feet within three minutes. American Airlines Flight 5916 was traveling from Charlotte, North Carolina to Gainesville, Florida in the United States. The sudden incident spooked passengers after the plane reported a possible pressurization problem.
20 thousand feet, the flight fell within 11 minutes:
According to data provided by FlightAware, the flight descended to about 20,000 feet within 11 minutes. After a journey of 43 minutes, the aircraft descended at 18,600 feet in less than 6 minutes.
According to a tweet, Mr Howe said the plane failed mid-flight and lost cabin pressure. The smell of burning can clearly be attributed to the use of oxygen canisters. He said that "the wing flaps popped out to reduce our altitude immediately, so that there could be more oxygen.
American Airlines statement:
American Airlines said in a statement that due to a pressurization problem, the crew decided to land safely at a lower altitude. American Eagle Flight 5916, operated by Piedmont Airlines, from Charlotte (CLT) to Gainesville, Florida (GNV) landed safely in Navi on Thursday, Aug. 10. During the flight, the crew received an indication of a possible pressurization issue and immediately and safely descended to a lower altitude.
Harrison Howe, a passenger on the flight and professor at the University of Florida, narrated his ordeal on social media. He said the incident was "terrible" and that "pictures cannot capture the smell of burning, the sound of a loud bang". In the pictures shared on X, an oxygen mask is seen hanging in the plane and many passengers including him are trying to breathe with its help.
"I've flown a lot. But this was scary. Congratulations to our amazing flight crew - cabin staff and pilots on AmericanAir 5916. Photos can't capture the smell of burning, loud bang or exploding ears. It's good to be on the ground.
